Product Owner

We are looking for a Product Owner to join our team in Solana Beach, CA. We’re a .NET, hosted application (SaaS) company, building multi-tiered web applications, with strong emphasis on design patterns, and delivering well-designed and modular releases. We develop and maintain the MarcomCentral® web application. MarcomCentral® is a leading product in the area of controlled asset creation and management. It allows marketing teams to control branding, compliance, or other messaging, whilst giving end users a limited set of freedoms to modify content via a customizable portal. Combine this with a powerful user group system that provides features such as budgets, cost center access, approval workflows, all tied to a full featured (manual or automated) distribution backend.


Duties and responsibilities

The candidate we are looking for would act as a scrum Product Owner managing a backlog for a small team of developers and a QA engineer. This person would be responsible for working with customer and internal stakeholders to define software requirements for various features being added to the MarcomCentral web application. They would coalesce these requirements into user stories with detailed written requirements for the developers and QA to follow, and work with the development team throughout the sprint to ensure that the requirements are implemented correctly.

  • Work with the Group Product Manager to understand the roadmap and business direction
  • Work with client, prospect, and internal stakeholders to collect requirements for roadmap projects and customer specific projects
  • Analyze requirements to define a set of user stories and imagine how the MarcomCentral application could be enhanced to solve for the user stories
  • Craft detailed requirements for each user story
  • Work with developers and quality assurance to ensure that they understand the requirements
  • Demonstrate newly implemented functionality to stakeholders
  • Document newly implemented functionality for stakeholders by writing release notes and user guides

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of front end Product Owner/ Product Management/ or UX Design experience, specifically with web-based enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of scrum processes
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders and developers
  • Must be able to take direction, work well as part of a team, and independently
  • Must be able to step back from the details and see the bigger picture
  • Must be able to learn and understand a large and complex product quickly
  • Strong demonstration and public speaking skills

Plus

  • Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in business, computer science, or related field
  • Experience using feature enhancement tracking tools, Jira and TFS or other
  • Experience using the MarcomCentral web application
  • Experience with UX design applications like Adobe XD
  • Previous UX design experience
  • Previous visual design experience
  • HTML/CSS skills
  • Experience writing statements of work and/or user guides
  • Experience leading sprint planning sessions
  • Previous product ownership of ecommerce application
  • Knowledge of the Digital Asset Management market
  • Knowledge of the Distributed Marketing market
  • Experience defining requirements for integrations and back end functionality
